Yes. So much yes. I only play one save, and I'm six or seven gens along now. I'm on console (lame I know) so no Mcc for me, so I try to keep up with all my households, and pair them all off and keep all the branches going. But in every generation there's one or two that I just can't stand. So they usually get stuck into a bachelor pad, full of all my "waste of pixel" sims, which I play when I'm especially bored and feel like causing mayhem.
