I try to limit mods, but I've got about 50 (!) - a lot are little mods to deal with annoyances. The knowledge I have to check them all every time I download a new patch keeps me from going too crazy with them (I often don't patch straight away for that reason). I use a lot of LittleMsSam and Zero's mods. I just downloaded Slice of Life so I'll see how that goes... I also recently added Personality Please. And I just can't play without MCCC and Meaningful Stories! I get a few last exceptions every so often but nothing that really impacts my gameplay.
I'm getting far too into CC though. I just downloaded a whole bunch of new cute CAS stuff, mostly hairs. I only go for Maxis match CC, some Alpha stuff is impressive but I just feel like it wouldn't fit in my game. I try to only download stuff I know I'll use, but there's so much great content being made, it's really difficult at times to resist!
