I like the random legacy, but often restart when we get new packs. I also like playing rotationally in my main game. I play the premades to it takes a while for generations to advance. - Stardust14887 years agoSeasoned AdventurerYeah I guess you're right, I was mostly playing the sims 3 up until a couple of weeks ago so maybe I might get further this time knowing that
Also I keep trying to write a story and maybe I get overwhelmed by it. I take a lot of screenshots and I think if I get too far I restart because I can't remember what happened lol
I used to like writing stories a lot more with the sims 2 where you could basically write the story in game as you play - simsimsere7 years agoSeasoned AceI have a legacy challenge save in TS4 but it's only gen 3 I think? In another save, on short lifespan, I'm on gen 7 or so (wanted to make it to gen 10 at least once). Overall I prefer rotational play and got kind of bored with both of those. I like breeding sims and I like the beginning where there's a challenge but after that it's not much fun.
In TS2 I made it about half way through... It was better there because it was part of my regular play but in TS4 sims gain skills even when you don't play them so challenge needs to be done in a separate save. I've pretty much given up playing legacy style. Eventually there might be a very long family line in my rotation but I'm not aiming for it on a purpose. - I've only just done it though, and not following the 'traditional rules', I made up my own. But I'm on generation 13 of my first legacy family (I only ever got to gen 3 or 4 before this). I think the secret for me has been to try and mix it up a bit in terms of stories and character traits. I usually play the same sims over and over, but this time I've made them all a bit different, or randomised a few things which has kept my interest. I also use the normal life span and 7 day seasons so it feels like each sim life is long enough to do what I need to but speedy enough to not get too attached to each sim :) Now weirdly when I think of playing a different family it feels wrong! So I think I'll be playing this legacy for a while!! :D
- LaBlue03147 years agoSeasoned AceI've tried a couple of times in the past, but I always get too attached to my founder sim.
- Hejix7 years agoSeasoned NewcomerOnce, in sims 2. Every generation got a new expansion to keep things interesting.
- moppy14w7 years agoSeasoned AceI’ve tried Legacy style play, where I set out with no cheats and the aim of playing through generations many, many times.
I have always got to generation three maximum.
I’ve had a tonne of fun trying all sorts of Sims. They’ve lived in apartments, they’ve lived in Willow Creek and Oasis Springs; once one Sim literally began with NO home.
They’ve had all sorts of jobs/careers and different personalities and styles.
I think some of the problems are
- I get distracted with new ideas
- I get distracted with real life and give up the game, sometimes for months and then I end up starting over when I return
- For a long time I didn’t want to let my precious Simmies die
- Stories and story blogs are actually hard to maintain
- All my Sims to date have ended up being ‘perfect’ parents who raise gorgeous little munchkins and they all want for nothing. Something about that has been too much the same from game to game to make it super appealing to continue with the kiddos (weird, I know) - notasmokealarm7 years agoRising VeteranGetting there. I'm currently in Gen 6 with my legacy save. Gen 7 are still in child/toddler stage respectively.
- Finished and wrote a story about it. I'm on gen 15. It's my one and only save since the release of S4. I could be way ahead in generations but I take my time with them :) Not gonna post the link as it contains inappropriate things. I guess I can give links privately if anyone's interested but there's not that much of interesting things in it. Just documenting my sims' lives.
- BlueSeaWaves7 years agoLegendYes though the save was from 2014? And I finished last year. I took many hiatus’. It doesn’t hurt to take a break and try something else
