Laziness or not, that's a pretty creative way of using a vampire's dark form! I have yet another angel who is technically a vampire gameplay-wise: Azrael, the angel of death. Since people have so many different ideas about death, some embracing it, others fearing it, I thought about doing something similar with that angel's forms, one appearing as a kind spirit to guide you to your next life, the other looking like it's ready to drag you off to Hell. Right now, my Azrael is a nun with wings in the library, waiting for an appropriate house to move into, so I still have some time to think about how I'm going to do that.
By the way, something else I've done in my game that doesn't necessarily produce a new occult, but could be used as an idea for a shapeshifter: A vampire (or alien) whose forms have different sexes. If anyone is going to try this, my advice is to use a male sim as the base, because I find it a lot easier to morph a male face into a female one than vice versa.
