Does anyone else find it tricky to have sims maintain an awful reputation or is it just me? For awhile I have had sims with pristine reputations and it’s fun but I have been wanting to mix it up. My sim does not have a mean trait at all and she is pretty neutral and usually she just strikes up casual conversations with people on her own and never any mean interactions unless I make her. Either way, she spends more of her time being nice than mean and I don’t think I would want to turn off automony just to make this easier on me. Maybe if I changed her traits then it would be easier for my sim to dish out mean interactions? Has anyone been able to maintain a bad reputation, even getting it up to atrocious level? I think having a bad reputation is fun though and just recently, there was a random sim who asked her to keep a whole bunch of money, committing money laundering which was sort of hilarious.

I would prefer it if making friends didn't cause sims to gain positive reputation. It makes maintaining a negative rep very difficult. I want my sims to have a bad reputation for things like sketchy business practices, not necessarily having to always be outright mean.

Sounds like Parenthood all over again, it's pretty hard to raise a bad kid without your own coercion. Sims really are too nice for their own good!

Yes, maintaining bad reputations is difficult because there are too many interactions that cause good reputations. I have to keep making my sim call her PR agency to request a bad story. Even then, I can't maintain it very long.

Having celebs with bad reputation is difficult...

I haven’t maintained it because I switched household but my sim was getting a bad reputation when he fought a paparazzi when they showed up at his front door. I also declared them an enemy and word flew pretty fast

Exactly, they really are too nice. Unless you have an evil sim or a mean sim, they really don’t dish out mean interactions on their own. Except when they are angry.

I have gotten to the point of using cheats just to maintain it myself and I don’t really care that I am using it since maintaining it without cheats is sorta impossible.

I thought it was pretty easy to give my sims a bad rep. Fighting and making enemies brings it down fast.

Well, yeah, if you want a sim that fights constantly (which I do have a few.) I don't play all of my sims the same way, and the sim I'm playing now is not a fighter. The problem is, you can hardly do any normal actions, like talk to other sims, without increasing reputation. I don't want a one-dimensional sim that can only fight and make enemies and that's it.

I had an easy time keeping my Sims at the Atrocious level in one of my saves. Of course, she had the Kleptomaniac and Player traits.
