I have both and like them both, but I find I use DU much more often.
HSY is fun if you like playing with teens a lot (I like to use it mainly to get teen romances going that follow them into adulthood). Prom is every week and can get boring after a while. The day-to-day of high school can feel repetitive. For me it's all about socializing teens with other teens, and I like that part because it's hard without HSY for teens to meet other teens. I do like the Trendy shop as meet up place. But I use DU all the time to get my Sims higher in their careers.
Like others have said the world with HSY is nicer, but I'm not a fan of the high school building. I usually get one from the gallery to sub in. With DU the builds are 'ok' (I like the library and pub), but I usually end up editing the Commons so it has more stuff for students to do together or to make their studying easier (like adding a robotics lab, a test kitchen, etc.).
Bottom line, I find on a day-to-day basis in all my games I use the features of DU more than HSY, but both are fun in their own ways. 🎓
cchant86Thanks for this! I find I use the Teen Hangout Lot Trait to attract teens because, you're so right, it's so hard to meet teens! I've heard that Clubs from Get Together are really helpful for this sort of thing, too, but I'm not really interested in Get Together at this time.
I love renovating a lot, so I'm happy to do that! I also understand High School Years lots were built by simmers, and those are always interesting.
Yes…. I love the club system in Get Together. I have teen clubs and children’s clubs. Such a good way for my rotational sims to get to know each other.
i also edited the High school lot to have a gym, basketball, a wood shop room, and a knitting room. I changed the music and art rooms upstairs somewhat. And I added a science lab, where students could work on projects from parenthood, with frogs and things. There is just not a lot of after school time to do too much. I haven’t tried to see if you can use the school on the weekends. I know sims can go to the auditorium room, I do send sims there where I added a Photo Booth, and some activities for sims.
