Help Needed with Strangerville

Question

I got Strangerville for Christmas. My sim was able to use the chemical analyzer to get the spore profile data. Now she's to the point where she can make vaccines, but I'm no longer able to click on the chemical analyzer. I removed mods from my game, but that didn't help. Any other ideas?

Edit: Also repaired my game, but no luck.

Get more spores and you can make the vaccines.  Make extra just in case.

I collected over 20 spores and bizarre fruit and still can't use the chemical analyzer :/

Update: For some reason, my aspiration task didn't register. I went through the door to the mother again then tried using the chem analyzer again. It worked.

That was the other cause I could think of - that the game didn't think you were that far in the plot yet.
