I don’t mind the size. English countryside villages tend to be small, just a cluster of houses sometimes, so having tons of amenities like a gym (a rare sight in such a village) would kill my immersion.
I will say regarding performance, that before I got my current gaming PC I had a lot of issues with lag playing with the premades. For one save I downloaded a totally blank world and my game ran so much faster with just a couple of built on lots and a limited number of sims. So the other worlds do have an effect.
The lots can be infinitely duplicated by creating new saves, so if I have at least 10 lots I can usually explore what I would want to in that particular save. In my saves where I use Henford-on-Bagley, I can extend into the similar looking Glimmerbrook to be “the next village along” if needed.
