Hey, can you guys tell me if this lack of npc interaction is typical?
So uh, I think I've spent more time trying to troubleshoot this than actually playing, so I figured I'd just ask if maybe it's normal.
NPCs in my game don't do much interacting, both at home parties and on community lots. I've tested my game on so many different settings, with and without mods, new saves old saves, adjusted the graphics. I've purposely made a ton of evil and romantic townies, with the hope that it'll trigger some more npc fighting and flirting. So many townies with just extreme traits. I've also used the mod MCCC to manually make a bunch of npc sims enemies, still nothing. I did use the "hook up with" interaction with success, the two sims who started dating would... occasionally do romantic interactions. But that was only if the conversation happened to trigger in the first place.
Even if I do see two npcs get into a conversation, it's usually short lived, and if it starts going south they always end the conversation immediately.
When interacting with my active sims, they seem to roll interactions properly. Mean and evil sims will always go hard, and I've been autonomously flirted with a handful of times, although that is also extremely rare. (Sidenote, if a random npc flirts with my married sim, are they supposed to always flirt back? Never had them reject the flirt, but figured that should be based on the mood of my sim or its traits, relationship bar with spouse, etc but maybe it isn't, idk) But they very rarely do any interaction of note with other npcs. I could spend a whole night at a bar or nightclub, throw a kegger where everyone is juiced on the flirty stuff, and the npcs will maybe queue a short idle chat before wandering off to play foosball alone or watch a movie quietly.
The Magic Realm is the only place where npc interaction autonomy seems mostly all right, but they still never fight or flirt. Just do magic stuff.
Also seems like they don't use any of the mood specific interactions, "Show off muscles", "Bold compliment" etc, not that I've seen.
I've googled a ton, I've seen the threads stating similar things- that nothing happens unless your active sims make it happen. But I'm feeling like my case is extreme. Or maybe it isn't.
I've also seen the bug thread where this lack of interaction was an actual bug, that was fixed. The thread had videos of before and during the bug, and I'm thinking mine is closer to uh, without the bug- I mean they don't usually just stand there doing nothing, like they did with the bug. But even in the videos without the bug, they were mostly doing idle chatting, so it didn't really address my question.
So uh, long story short, am I right in expecting that the npcs will flirt and fight with each other, build a romance bar- even if they don't marry/date on vanilla- and make enemies? Or can I finally stop trying to fix something that's not broken, lol.
Ohh it just struck me, anyone have maybe a link to one of those Sims youtubers who maybe have a video of a party or nightclub where the npcs are behaving as intended? Gonna take a second and google that right now... So I just watched one from uh, 2 years ago of a house party, it actually seemed... pretty typical, yeah. Nothing wild happening, I'll look for some more. Appreciate any input anyway, thanks for reading this uh, tldr post.
