I believe you have to take 11 skill classes in mixology to earn it.
I believe the Bartender degree thing is tied to taking 11 skill classes in mixology to unlock a "certification" and be able to apply directly as a Mixologist in the Culinary path; this was mentioned in a passing thought in Carl's DU review video.
