Hey, I was wondering why the High school expansion doesn't allow for other playable teens in your town to go to high school. I'd love for my sims to be able to meet each other in high school. Also, it would be nice if new teens spawned each time instead of the same old crew.

Let's open up my NPC making guide, High School Years pack... Ah, here!
You need to equip this trait to the teens: trait_HighSchool_Active_Class1Student
Then the teen has a chance of appearing as an NPC in the active high school.
Otherwise existing teens are pulled and put into that role. I hope that the game assigns that hidden trait when your sim attends the active high school, but I'm not sure.
So yeah, the main reason is that they don't have the required hidden trait. Cheat to equip this trait is here!
Would trait_HighSchool_Active_Class2Student also work?
Nope, such trait actually doesn't exist.
Despite it being named as trait_HighSchool_Active_Class1Student, teens with this trait can also appear as Class 2 student. So yeah, you have no control over whether they appear in Class 1 or Class 2.

Same. When my second Sim teenager went to High School, I was like, wait, her sister already met those kids, why are they still here? That was even before I turned off auto-ageing, and it just doesn't make sense. Just like it doesn't make sense that your Sim's former college roommate no longer recognize them after graduation. Happened to the oldest daughter of my main household; she ran into her old roommates at a festival, I think, and had to reintroduce herself.
Jehane40Was she very close with those roommates and/or did the festival happen right after she left college? If not, it's possible that their relationship just eroded over time. It's a part of Sims 4 relationship mechanics generally that if your sim's relationship with someone falls to zero, that person is classified as a stranger and disappears from your sim's relationship panel.
Huh. Good question, I'm not sure about that... I think they were friends but I really can't remember if they were close. I'm pretty sure the festival was a bit after graduation, though, but with rotational gameplay, it's a bit hard to keep track of such details :) But thanks for the input, I'll keep an eye on that :)
I have regularly had my sims from my households i am currently not playing turn up at High School , But maybe that only happens because i use a mod so i have 18 teenagers at school at once in 2 classes of 9 each
Exactly! It'd be great if they could fix that.
It'd probably be too complex to mod in, but what I wished they'd done from the beginning was (a) allow for multiple high schools in different worlds and (b) generate different class rosters, including teachers. They have like ten different classes during the week, but it's always the same, like you're in grade school and you only have one teacher who teaches everything.
There are a few ways to make it happen, depending on if you want to use mods or not. The no-mods way is to move your families to Copperdale - I do believe kids from there are picked for school first and I believe that accounts for played sims too.
The other way is to add the mod "choose your high school classmates" (available on CurseForge), then you can by clicking any mailbox add and remove classmates. Any teen can be chosen, but you need to make sure the core roles are filled (meanie + one student for each after school activity). In order for a student to be chosen for this, you manually have to make sure they have the specific after school activity first.
My game has plenty of other playable Teens in high school. Almost every Sim is playable, after all, especially Sims who have a house.
Do you mean that your own, made sims are in the high school?
I have used cheats to add some of the premade high schoolers to my household and they do have a family that I believe had a house, but none of my own sims. That’s what I was meaning.
I get sick of seeing the same crew of kids as well. I wish they could spawn all the high-school age kids that we are playing in our families. They could make friends a lot faster if they have the chance to attend classes together.
