Why re-invent the wheel every pack? If a system like the club system can be adapted for use in different functions, that gives them more resources to provide more content. If they had to create a system from scratch, we might not have gotten the glass roofs, or improvements in gardening, or the skating; there was a thread in Spec and Rumor wondering if skating would be in an SP.

They do have to reinvent some wheel on every pack, otherwise why make it? It's an Expansion that is suppose to expand and bring something totally new.

This wheel however, is weather and seasons in TS4.

But the calendar is new, the holiday planning system is just attached to it but it applies to every sim in the world and doesn't have anything to do with clubs.

I see what you mean, it is very stylized and cartoon looking, I think it fits the aesthetic of the game, but I understand where you're coming from.

I'm thinking of the guy in the original announce trailer, who got hit by lightning but was able to channel the energy so he wasn't harmed. Maybe he had the Stormchaser trait. Some people were afraid that all Sims would be able to do that thus death by lightning wouldn't be A Thing.

One of the devs said that there's an umbrella stand in buy mode you can get. I don't think you have to buy the umbrellas, just pull one from the stand.

I think I just found my new favorite EP :)

There are new club activities when new content is released (I hope kids can skate; might have a skating club for my Sim kids). I could see new traditions also added in the future.

This might be the best Seasons EP in the series -- granted we've only had 3. I loved Sims 2 Seasons because it introduced gardening/planting, also things like the Wishing Well that added chaos to the game. Sims 3 was okay, but the festivals got a bit repetitive after a while. The customized holiday system shows EA's commitment to diversity as well -- instead of Christmas we get a generic Winterfest, and players can adjust it to add aspects of their cultural holidays. I wonder if you can set your own menus for things like Harvestfest -- a vegetarian family might want to skip the roast turkey and go for a Tofurkey instead, or maybe they just cook up a bunch of vegetarian entrees?
