My seasons are currently two week long. If I made them 4 week long I might add some more holidays. For now I have:
The year starts with Llamasquarade. This is my quirky version of love day. It has trick or treat, wear costumes, romantic spirit, go on a date and give flowers as traditions. Some sims love the costume part, but others just want to get a date. Teens have a chance to meet new sims when trick or treaters come to their door.
It's followed by Founder's Birthday. The traditions are gardening, egg hunt, thankful spirit, attend holiday ceremony and light a menorah. It's quite an earnest holiday to celebrate the founder sim that some of my sims believe in.
Next is Midsummerfest with bar-b-que, drinking, go on a vacation, fire and streaking. Sims generally like to spend this holiday at Granite Falls, but Windenburg is an acceptable alternative.
In the beginning of the fall comes Gnome Follower's Day. It is believed that the Founder Sim was so charismatic that even the garden gnomes followed him. This day is to honour those gnomes with fasting, telling stories, art and music spirit, grand meal and holiday gnomes. If you don't belive in Founder Sim you might go with kicking the gnomes instead.
After that comes Bunny Remembrance Day to commemorate the first freezer bunny that went to the space and made contact with the aliens. This holiday has exercise, make resolutions, spooky spirit, festive lighting and flower bunny as traditions. It's about the bravery to face things that you're not familiar with.
Then comes Spirit of the Plumbob which includes decorate, give gifts, festive spirit, grand meal and remembrance. It's a chance to spend time with your family and also reunite with those you've lost.
Finally we have New Year's Eve with cleaning, fireworks, party spirit, countdown to midnight and father winter. This holiday is mostly about partying, but there's also a chance to get presents.
I haven't played through all of the holidays yet, so I'm not sure how all the traditions work together. I'm prepared to make some changes, but hopefully don't have to make too many.
