The challenge is what you the player make it and if he had stuck to the guidelines instead of proving that you succeed if you ignore the guidelines or not then he probably would have found it more interesting. Why listen to EA Game Changers you don’t have the game everyone plays differently in the Sims 4 and I tend to not listen to people who don’t pay for the games and get them free. They can say anything about the game even if it’s good they make it out to be bad."musteni;c-17897950" wrote:

That's a pretty devastating one.
Looks like I have my work cut out for me to make the best of this pack.
It might also be that you need to really work at your career rather than just trying it out after a few hours practice as the game-changers have been forced to do, so some Simmers might find their gameplay enjoyment doing that. He might also not be very good at decorating!
He might not use it but I've noticed a few of the game-changers using the MCCC mod and wonder if that needs a bit of updating.
I'll be buying it for the objects mainly but like the idea of it. I don't like to rush gameplay, love looking around others' houses, so taking things slowly, finding likes and dislikes will suit me.
I don't think it has nothing to do with him not being good at decorating or mccc. The clients liked a piece of ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Carl left in the decorated room, the clients liked rooms that had nothing to do with what was asked for, besides the liked color... this was to test that clients don't acknowledge anything beside the color (and maybe the furniture style...?). Clients ask for a kitchen, you give them a rock climbing room, and because it uses the liked color, they loved it... even the career isn't well made... and is the modular furniture enough to hold this price tag...? I don't think so, but that's just my opinion...
He said he was out to test and break the game if possible so I expect other Simmers might take a gentler route to finding out about the game than him. An easy job to start with one Sim?
Imo it doesn't matter what's the game changer approach as long as it clearly shows that sims are not even acknowlodging what kind of room they are asked to renovate, or if the objects make sense or not.
Carl's review is what we call in my job a proof by absurd. He tried to use the absurd to prove that you basically can do anything as long as the right color (and maybe furniture style) is used. Because it was absurd, the game should have refuted it. But it didn't...
It was his choice to go that route though. The tasks suggest what room he was supposed to make and he ignored it. Personally I think the likes/dislikes are enough guidance for the job along with the original assignment. I don't need the game to watch over me when it comes to the room purpose.
He chose that route to prove that we can ignore the client asks and still succed in the career. It's posible. But it shouldn't be if the career was well made.
Ofc you can stick to the guidelines. For what i have seen, you'll suceed every time. So, where's the challenge?
I usually don't wait for reviews to make my mind about a pack, but when the reviews are showing problems, several reviews, i tend to be cautelous... but ofc that's just my personal opinion and reaction after watching some reviews. To each their own... I, for instance, don't want a game where the player has to set the challenge. I would prefer that the game would reward or penalize me properly. But i get and respect your approach.
I haven’t liked a pack personally since before Discover University so I get being skeptical and cautious. I get needing the game to make the challenge to the game is lacking so many things. But in the end it should be about how you play and not really listen to others because you might find it a better experience then what they did. If that makes any sense.?
Oh yes, you're absolutelly right :) I'm very critical of reviews though. I can distinguish a subjective opinion from an objective showcase.- https://twitter.com/simlicy/status/1399803023811956743?s=20
- Carl's review reminded me of something from when the game was first released. People were wondering why sims would wash dishes and prepare food in the bathroom. Turns out the game does not recognize various types rooms -- they're all just rooms. This was a design decision, but I don't remember why they went that route.
- I can also tell you sometimes clients lie, like tell you they love something when they do not. Then fail you. I used a mod to check and yes they liked other things then they asked for and sometimes disliked what they asked for as well. lol Still testing..
- I wonder what new mods will be made to address this room thing. I play Tenents on Steam and that game that has way less graphics and such knows what is a kitchen and with is a bedroom. lol
- I find it sad that a majority of people seem to don't consider it as gameplay. Whether you play in CAS, Build, or Live, all of them count as game play. Builders have never had a pack that gives them the opportunity to integrate building with Live Mode features. This is a first in The Sims 4. And for builders like me this is an great addition to my gameplay. However the fact that in the review it was stated that the pack is just low on gameplay is just disappointing.
We have like gazilions of packs that focuses on Live mode and the Build and Buy are just mostly new objects. Now the pack focused on bringing build and live mode together (something that I would love as it open up a new game play oppurtunity) people hated it because they do not considered it as game play.
I mean looking at wikipedia gameplay is Defined as "Gameplay is the specific way in which players interact with a game, and in particular with video games. Gameplay is the pattern defined through the game rules, connection between player and the game, challenges and overcoming them, plot and player's connection with it.
If that is the case then how come that Building is not considered a gameplay? How come bridging Live Mode and Build Mode in One pack that might never ever again happen in the game lifespan was not considered game play when it was defined as the way players interact with the game? Yes there’s a definition of gameplay but everyone sees things differently. How I see gameplay doesn’t match that description.
For me gameplay is live mode. I do build more but the houses or community lots are something nice for my Sims to live in or visit. Live mode is where interactions happen.
I don’t know anyone who would pay to go to a movie just for the house or office?
I.e. I didn’t go watch Twilight because someone told me the Cullens (characters in the movie) have a great modern house with lots of windows etc.
This is why I’m not getting this pack. I’ve seen nothing that appeals to have my Sim enter a career based around build mode. I don’t feel this pack bridges live and build mode.
I would rather click build mode and change what I want, when I want.- SEREFRASSeasoned VeteranI actually made that beautiful modern Cullen's home in the game for my modern Vampire/Spellcaster Hybrid. It was not an easy build, especially for the balcony. However, I did have fun collecting some cars for the Garage room.
