I like 2 and 4. Sims 2 is my personal favorite and also my first sims game. Even though 4 does so many thing better than 2, the sims in 2 feel more alive and have more depth. My biggest criticism for 4 is nothing you do really matters, the socalled emotions do not work well or have any significant impact on gameplay, sims are only affected temporarily by what happens in the game, making most interactions feel really shallow and pointless. I really miss the memory system and detailed animation of sims in 2. I went back to play sims 2 again recently, and it blew my mind that the sims actually open drawers and stuff.
