I have a rental lot that has 3 horses, each one in a separate family. I found out that only the horse belonging to the family you are playing as is seen, this goes for cats and dogs too, One of the families I am not playing has 3 dogs and I haven't seen them. I see the other sims from those families all the time, even toddlers, but no horses or dogs. That is a let down.
