I'm a bit half and half on this as it comes to the Calientes. I haven't played much sims 2. And only really deal with sims 2 ppl in sims 4 that already exist in game, or can be gotten from the gallery. In my current save I added everyone in for funzies and gave them the correct relationships. Even Mom Landgraab, aging her down to a teen, making then twins hers and Malcom's biologically bc I was a little confused on that point, and making them toddlers. Just so his family was in world already.
So on one hand I'm interested in what characters where supposed to be like in previous games. But the sims 2 has a bit of a learning curve for me, as someone who really came into it with Sims 3 on laptop, right when Sims 4 was being released. Whenever I tried Sims 2 I wasn't sure what to do. So I don't have quite the same attachment, and Sims 3 has its bugs.
Finding out that the Calientes were actually POC was interesting. And the promised townie refreshes that never happened had me all excited before. But I don't think that it should've been labeled as a hot new update. It's literally just doing a thing you promised to do for literally ALL the OG townies like 2-3 years ago. I don't think that even deserves to be officially on the map. More like a side note, or officially stated during, not guessed at. It's literally fulfilling a promise made to your consumers. Especially when you're only doing one at a time.
I can't remember if the OG Goths are available in the Maxis catalog after the refresh, but they and the OG Calientes should be in case ppl want to edit both. Or set them up as like cousins in game.
Basically I'm not put out about their appearances, they look closer to the images I've seen of their original selves. I'm also glad to a certain extent that they're finally actually doing some sort of refresh, since it seemed like they weren't going to do ANY anyone after all their promises. Which gives me hope for pack refreshes.
But idk it seems like a way to generate excitement for doing something you promised to do a long time ago and didn't. Like if you were asked to take out the trash 2 days ago, and only did it after the person who asked you got back from their trip and saw it still there and was upset. And then you wanted praise for that.
The SDX drop is great though, more representation is always wonderful. And more recipes is always welcome. If they could streamline the cooking menu it'd be even better.
