I prefer it with the set categories, though I wish we had more default options in both Hot and Cold categories, and I wish the game had a "wet weather" category for raincoats. I also wish the game could distinguish between inside clothes and outdoor clothes, both for everyday clothing and the Hot and Cold weather categories. For one thing, sims could take their shoes off in the house, and they could have jumpers and cardigans for cold days at home, which would be separate to their winter coats. As it stands we can set multiple outfits but if it's cold in the house and the sim puts on their Cold weather clothing, the game will randomly choose between outfits. If they did it the way I suggest, perhaps sims would also take off their hats indoors too.
