How can I deal with these Script errors?

I have tested out, and found out the problem, but I am having some really bad script errors, and am looking for some ideas on how to solve it. First I thought it might have been my mods, so I pulled all them out and was still getting them. So I did a little in game testing to find out what is triggering the script error, and this is what I found.

I moved a sim into the apartment in the district in San Myshuno where the Spice District is at. Every single time my sim went home, or I left and came back into the game, my game would throw script errors at me. It was at this point I pulled all my mods, and deleted the catch file. I went back into my game, and I was bombarded with script errors again.

I then moved my sim from San Myshuno to Willow Creek, and all of sudden I was not having any script errors. I played for several sim days, and the only time I encountered a script error was when my sim went to the Spice District.

To further test my game, I moved my sim back to San Myshuno, and again the script errors kicked in like crazy again. I also noticed that things in that district would never clear properly. Meaning I would end up seeing 5 of those snack shacks, those rugs that you see that have the couches, chairs, and floor lamps setting on. All kinds of string lighting (for both the spice festival, and the flee market), and other stuff. I figure this must be what is causing the script errors to be triggered, and was wondering if there is any way I can deal with this. I have already had a sim live in the district for nearly 2 sims weeks, and it just won't clear up on it's own.

  • I don't get them that often, but I do get them every time that jenga block puzzle game is on a lot.
  • I think the festival stuff is a known bug - check over to the Answers forum (EA), but I'm pretty sure I saw someone else post about it too.

You need to clean your caches when you removed script mods otherwise many are still activated as they change the script and a cache can hold the changes there. Also most script mods need to be updated to what ever patch level is in the game for them to perform as intended which generally means every patch to the game needs a newly updated mod. The last thing is sometimes script mod do not get along together and if anything is left in the caches even if the mod was removed it will still clash with remnants of the other script mods - so best bet is removed the script mods, clean your caches and shut down your game. Go check with each mod creator for the newest update - as well as test the mods for compatibility with each other before you start adding them back to your game a few at a time and see how that works out.

If the script errors are actually caused by the festivals overlapping, the only way to get rid of it is to attend both festivals (one and then the other when they next show up) and stay until after the festival ends and everything clears from that specific festival. That can actually take an extra 1-1/2 hours after the closing time of each festival.

This was fixed once but came back after the C&D pack/patch but also with another added problem. It seems the normal items/general city items that are always around, may also not clear when a festival comes so they also get stuck with the festival items. You can try to make sure those are also clearing and changing properly when they are supposed to by staying until 5 pm (? I don't really remember the exact time those are suppose to change) during a regular day before another festival comes.

Another thing I noted (which made me stay away from the city) was if your Sim mistakenly goes within the boundaries (like jogging or taking a dog out to relieve themselves) of the festival neighborhood area while one is going on, the game considers you are attending the festival and this will still happen. The boundaries extend beyond the actual festival area.

Hopefully, all this should clear it and make it start working again properly. Regardless, you should report it here as it is a known bug:

Check your mods firsts. Are they updated? Are any mods conflicting with each other? Are any of your packages conflicting with each other? Do you have any duplicates in your mod folder? Did you accidentally place a jpeg in your mod folder? Did you put the wrong type of file in? Double and triple check your mod folder. The worst case scenario is uninstalling and reinstalling the game. This should be done if no other advice given does NOT work the last resort measure. It WILL take at least a day for your game to uninstall and reinstall depending on how much extra stuff you have. I have had to do this a few times without mods because of the Seasons' updates being so screwy and breaking the game.

  • Hi all,

Thank you all for sharing your thoughts/ideas regarding this issue. However, as it has been said Answers HQ would be the best place for discussions like this, so I am closing this one.

    Thank you for understanding.
