How Can I have My Residential Rental Owner Also Live In?

I have been scouring the Internet, and either I'm not wording it correctly, but I can't seem to find a proper answer. My idea is to have my Sim purchase a small apartment complex (4 units, only) but ...

Thank you. One article I read said something about the phone being involved. When I get back into gameplay, I'll set things in motion, as I'd planned. Have to write up the chapter, first, though, lest my brain let's it go, and RL distracts me too much. :)
