You need to travel to the venue in Del Sol Valley (Studio BPB, or something like that?)
The awards should start once your sim gets there. I haven't had a lot of experience with this yet myself but the sims will gather around the microphone and the host will read out what the award is and then who won it. The winner goes up to the micorphone, makes an acceptance speech and then on to the next award.
