How do I delete or get control of empty 'invite only' clubs?

I see this is a very old thread... But as it has been re-ignited a bit I would just like to say that I too have this problem... And those cheats don't work for me either.

I have the answer!! I just did it!
You need to know who the last leader of the club is. Go into that character’s house and cheat the character back to the apparopriate age. Then in the club manager button open up the clubs. The empty club will not appear in your sims list of clubs. Click on the “i” button for info. You must make your sim the leader again; he/ she will appear as a sim you can add. Click the check mark. ONLY add that sim! I tried hitting the garbage can button and it froze my game. I tried adding the characters I wanted into the club but not the leader, and it froze. Once your sim is the leader again, and you have already clicked the check mark. Go into that sim’s clubs, select the club you want to delete and delete it from your sim’s panel. It took a while to figure out but I got it. There really should be an easier way though!
