How Do You Choose CC?

I download cc for CAS but not build/buy. I love to build (badly, but still) and I love to share what I build and it annoys me when I can't share with everyone because of cc so I just skip it there. Even with CAS I only download clothing, shoes, and makeup. Hairs and eyes cause too many issues in my game (probably just the way I play) with careers (cough cough, detectives..) and genetics. I find it super annoying when I have to parents with black hair and their kid randomly gets red, green, blue, brown, blond, etc... with no family history of that color.

I don't have a lot of stuff on my PC Sims game.
I only have the base game, and the holiday thing they gave us for free. My PS4 version pretty much has everything except most of the kits.
Anyway, I tend to look for anime or cartoon type CC, and use that in my game.

Admittedly I haven't gone on a rampage in a long time normally I would be as I would download whatever I like that may work and test it out in small batches which can be a lot of days of downloading and playing. Though currently I only have a few items.

I end up just googling things I need for my game like "bunny ears" or "colorful wallpaper" and then when I'm back to plying the game I downloaded 200 things that I was not planning on.

I would say 90% of my CC is for CAS. I'm not a builder and although I do enjoy decorating, I find the stuff that comes with the base game and the packs is sufficient. I suppose I focus far more on my Sims than their surroundings. I have most of my graphics settings on medium or high because my eyesight is so poor I honestly can't see a difference. But my sims are on very high because I want my Sims to shine in all their pretty CC.

There are three main instances in which I will download CC:
1. It was created by a creator I love (read: am pledged to on Patreon)
2. It looks cute & I'm in the mood for whatever
3. It fits a particular theme I need for a character

No CC for me, just use what base game and the packs I buy give me. I keep it simple.

I only download maxis match custom content for CAS. I prefer to have default custom skin and eyes. I like the hair that cc creators make, the styles are more varied than what we get from EA.

I kinda go through phases. I go on a CC binge and spend hours looking at CC and just randomly download whatever appeals to me at the time.

There is so much out there and a lot that isn't in game and would greatly enhance it. Right now though, with all the bug fixes I haven't updated my mods, so I'm not playing with any CC. But as soon as I do I'll be continuing my Decades challenge where I find some really cool CC for each generation and love it.

No cc or mods for me, at least until Sims 4 is done and there won't be any more updates.
Even then I probably won't have any, because I'm too worried about getting viruses on my computer when downloading something from non-official sources.
If I ever do download anything after Sims 4 is completed I will have to do a lot of research to be sure that it's safe. I play on laptop and if the cc makes my game lag or slows down my gaming experience at all, I'm not interested, it's not worth it.
Right now I don't even need anything other than everyday CAS items for male Sims, especially adult men.
