I mean, I keep them on. They do not detract from anything more than the previous arbitrary desires of Sim entries. I can ignore them if I do not like the ones suggested or fulfill them if I do. It does not bother me too much.
However, it could definitely be a lot better. My inspired cooks should not necessary desire to paint and vice versa. They definitely would be more meaningful if they were more personalized and if the rewards store was updated more often I would care more about the whims in the first place. There has to be a reason I care about their arbitrary will or they will just follow mine, but to be fair they are not really unique enough anyway for me to exactly expect that either.
In conclusion: meh. I'd like it to be better, for sure, but the shallow nature matches the rest of it in a cart before the horse kind of way in my opinion. A better whim system makes a lot more fun for unique personalities, but you need the personality backbone.
