Hi @whimreaper I see you're playing Sims 4. Somehow you got yourself into the Sims 3 Creative Corner instead of the one for 4. You might get more answers related to the content you have available if you moved your post over there.
I just play Sims 3, but generally speaking, in a lot of hallways, I think it does a lot to just have an interesting wallpaper, maybe something with wainscoting or a paneling, depending on your build's style, a wall light, maybe a painting or a mirror, and a rug runner. If there's room, sometimes I'll put in something like a sideboard or a narrow table and use decor items on top (and underneath, too, if it's a table),or in the same kind of space you could place a bench or loveseat. When I have a lot more wall space than I know how to fill up, I tend to put in more windows on the outside walls :p and concentrate my decor on the other walls then. Things like fireplaces and grandfather clocks, etc., would fill some places similarly to how a bookcase would.
