How do you find a partner for your sims?
I am making a new family and thus a new story. I recently remade a few female townies based off of Avelinesims so need a few ideas on how to go through the process of elimination.

I let them choose autonomously for both friends and lovers. I find it's more natural and organic that way., as well as more interesting.
After introductions/inviting in they are on their own. I only direct friendly/mean socials once they become friends/disliked. I only direct romance once they have 1/3 pink bar minimum. Even then I just tend to restart the conversation when it stops and let them pick their own interactions/topics based on traits/jobs etc.
I do any whims they have for socials too.
