How do you get your family to join you in running a vet clinic?

I agree that the point of the Sims is to micromanage the toons. What I am saying though, is that if you decide to live on your buisness lot, why not be able to have you're toons come right 'home'. So basically what I am asking, is there a mod that does this for me? Because I really dislike how it is right now.

I don't believe you can. But, you can buy a residential lot, put nothing on it and build a vet clinic on a vet clinic lot that includes living space with it. The problem is sending your family home to an empty lot and then redirecting them to the clinic which is why we need a mod to combine the two. In other words, commercial and residential lots are currently separate entities.... you would have to make your home a commercial lot when you set up the clinic in the basement and therein lies the catch 22.

Well no. You either mark it as a residence or a vet clinic, or else customers will never come to your house for treatment and thus never get paid for it. However you can make a vet clinic as a place for you to live in when it's not open, but you still need an actual home lot that all your bills and mail and whatnot go to.

I came to ask this question. I don't understand why EA adds such limitations. I spent hours building an amazing family home with Vet clinic on lower level, only to discover that there's no way for my sims to both live and make money there without annoyingly having to use the portal every day. And even with the portal, I see no way to get my own personal pets to the lot without making a sim go to the empty home lot and then travel back to the clinic with the pet. :'(

Thus far, have not found a mod for this either. Was hoping there would be some custom trait mod out there by now.

Because there are so few lots in TS4 anyway, I really don't want to take up 2 lots just for one to be an empty shell and another for the clinic/home.
