I have the same problem as you sometimes. Sometimes it can be really hard to get into the second or third generation without getting bored. Something that I think helps me, is that if I start getting bored of a certain family, I go into CAS and create a whole new save and play them for a while. After playing them for a while, I tend to go back to my old save because I either got inspiration or I missed the old family.
