How Do You Have Fun in The Sims 4?

I enjoy challenge play. Preferably something with an obligatory 'random' aspect, such as the Random Legacy Challenge and Box o' Chocolates challenge because these stop me sinking into repetitive play by forcing me into aspects I wouldn't normally choose and keeping my game fresh.
However, I don't do all the 'point scoring' stuff or follow the rules super strictly. I play as I want to play. I also don't particular invest in any of the sims themselves... I am more interested in the completion of things such as collections and challenges and in the building of family trees.
At the moment I am playing the Super Sim Challenge and it has actually slowed a little as I'm enjoying the family tree that is building from it. I can't play 'rotational' and I can't just create a sim and live their life. I need goals and achievements to give me purpose and direction in my gameplay. It's not for everyone but it is perfect for me.
