Don’t be afraid to let things fall apart, make couples fight, allow children to get into trouble, get on spouses, have teens break curfew, socialize with as many NOSC as possible for storytelling purposes.
Instead of playing aimlessly, try to sit and really figure out the lives of your sims, figure out who they are and remember you can create the story and make them go where you want them to go in their lives.
