How do you stay motivated to play the game?

When I get bored of Sims 4 I usually just turn it off and stop playing for awhile. Sims 4 doesn’t hold my interest for long, even rotational play gets super boring when all of my households are basically doing the same things, with the same personalities, expressions, and desires (regardless of their traits).

I’ve been doing a “rags to riches” challenge recently that has been sorta fun, but the underlying gameplay is still mostly the same so it has lost some of that appeal now that my sim is financially ok (§5,000 simoleons) with a basic house.

I honestly just start new games, I have like 5 games going right now because I get bored with other. Like I love my legacy family but I got bored with them and didn't want to bring a chaos to the family so I started a new game.

OP - well I just like having fun and I find the Sims games a lot of fun. I have never had to "force" myself to have fun - so no motivation needed - I guess. I'm just a fun loving person I guess. LOL.

It has been my experience I only need motivation to do things that are not fun - like housework, jobs, real life commitments etc. Fun things like playing games and the Sims are my go to things to do when I want to escape real life.

So perhaps my motivation is escaping real life for a while. LOL.

I try to do stuff I normally don't when I play Sims. I tend to end up doing the same things over and over, which of course gets old over time.

I think that's called being in a rut. That's okay - we all have those days. LOL.

Keep in mind what you do in the game is up to you - so perhaps you do need some motivation to change up your game play style.

Perhaps try going to one of the creative threads and read some of their stories and such. Go through various ones until you see an idea that differs from yours that you might like to try. Keep in mind there is no right or wrong way to play the Sims so I am pretty sure you'll run across something that might interest and motivate you.

Sometimes you may need to get out of your comfort zone - maybe randomize pick some traits. Change up some sim in ways you don't normally play and dress them. Try a new career you've never tried. If you play a homebody kind of Sim - try instead playing a sim that is more adventurous and that never stays home.

Maybe check out some of the player created challenges. I hear the Murk-land apocalypse game play is fun. They have tons of lots and sims in the gallery for adding to your game. Have you tried that yet?

Anyway - good luck and try to enjoy a new way of playing for a while perhaps. Also you might want to back up your present game - so you can start afresh and try new things - but if you decide you like your former game better well you can always go back to it.

I'm always playing different games inbetween since I'd get bored silly playing the same game day after day. Usually have my 3ds handy and been playing a few games I missed out on or didn't get around to (though I did buy them).

Challenge wise? Best to make up your own challenge since no one ever sticks to the rules made by another. Easier to make your own goals. Like James Turner from the sims supply made his super sim challenge. Fulfill all aspirations, keep aging on but drinking youth potions from the reward store, get the top of every career, and max out all skills. I'm usually into taking pictures for story telling and trying my hand at making more diverse sims of different cultures.

That and seeing how well I can come to making sims look like the references I get or with builds.

The only challenge I ever thought was pretty interesting was the island challenge.

I have this problem a lot lately, due to work just making me too tired to play. So if I don't want to play or no desire to play I just don't.
There's nothing wrong with taking a break from a game. Id rather take a break than force myself to play and not enjoy the game.
Find a different activities to do or just relax.

I am a generational/rotational style player and I'm obsessed with creating generation after generation. I've played 25 generations in my game and I would say playing out different storylines in my game/& in my head (I have to pretend a lot because I don't use Mods or CC) keeps me motivated. And as we get more content it inspires me for more storylines.

My motivation is the game itself, this site and other Simmers. There is just so much to do and see and I want to do it all! I have numerous saves full of challenges, builds and just plain gameplay that I've started/completed or have paused. Not because I'm bored with them, because I get an itch to try something new I've seen someone else do, or get an idea from how they play.

If I'm not playing, I'm here reading threads, or reading stories, watching Let's Plays or speed build videos. All of these things give me ideas and remind me of things I haven't tried yet.

I'm not saying the game has everything I need to be completely satisfied or that it's perfect, nothing's perfect. I would dearly love terrain tools among other things, but that's another subject. What the game has now though keeps me engaged, entertained and enthusiastic to play every day.
