How do you turn off this visual effect above sims heads?

I dislike these effects, too. Perhaps it was ok when lot traits were all new, but for pictures or movie making I need to remove lot traits, meanjing I won't ever add them again. Not all lot traits give these graphics though, I think, but it's better to remove them all than to experiment and get annoyed.
