How does Compatibility work?

I'm curious how does compatibility work in sims? since yesterday i noticed the awful compatability between Yumiko and John ( married couple now divorced) and even John and his daughter Krysten shows awful compatibility.

What causes this? and is there way to fix or repair this? i went in cas mode and changed family closeness nothing
