How exactly does player made film studio lots work?

During the livestream questions were asked regarding how exactly does the active acting career lot work in regards to building your own. IE does it work like hospitals, police stations, and laboratori...

I believe they said you can choose to stay on the lot and play around with it after your audition is over and everyone has left - not before they do the audition. The set will go back to the way it is supposed to be once your sim leaves so your own design will never be used from the way they showed it.
