Yeah sure if you connected before launching the game it'll work, but alot of people have internet problems and now in latest EA app update you need a constant Internet connection to play..
I mean in origin once you launch the game online once its enough and the game credentials check its valid and you let you play offline as much as you want
In EA app you could play only offline for a while only
Now you can't play offline at all..
