In my current game, started new for Lovestruck, I don't have any playable ghosts, but a few of my Sims are elderly now so it won't be long 😉 and I do plan to make them playable ghosts (can't wait for the new pack!!!). 😍
In the past I've usually had at least one or two ghosts in the family, especially with legacies. I sometimes get really attached to a Sim (usually the first one that started the legacy) and can't let them go so I add them back to the family as a ghost and they become the housekeeper/child carer/pet walker/repair person/upgrader for the household.
I also almost always keep pets around as ghosts, either as family members or just free roaming the family home because I can't bear to see them go but I don't want to turn aging off. The comforting thing about them being ghosts is they can't die a second time. 😊

You have me wondering how the new pack will deal with animals that die….

Aww that is sweet💛 It's true that ghosts are a nice way to keep dear sims and pets playable even after their time has come.
A ghost housekeeper/child carer/pet walker/repair person/upgrader sounds very useful for a legacy gameplay! 😀 I had Summer Holiday be that kind of a ghost until I let her spirit free, but that was some years ago.
