How many simdays from start to graduation?

I'm planning my routine, but not having the game yet. My understanding is that a sim needs to take 12 classes/subjects, and that it's very hard keeping up with 4 classes per term. So, perhaps 5 terms would work okay. But then I read that each term can last for 5 to 7 days, and that there might be some free time in between terms, too? Plus there might be a day or two before the first term(?) and for packing after the final term(?).

Is there also a chance for needing to take one extra term? And does terms start on a given weekday, meaning I risk several days between terms?

I'm playing rotationally on 14 days per season, making 1 calendar year 56 days. I think whenever I send a group of students to Uni, I'll just as well play them all the way to graduation. I just need to make sure that 56 simdays will be enough. I'd hate needing to start a full new year just because they need a couple more days to complete their study.

  • Thanks for more input! I believe I will use a residential lot for all my locals. It's the only way they can attend both universities. Being a residential lot, I also can allow them to stay for as many years (game rotations) as I need, even if they technically did graduate during the first year. I assume 1 term would last a half year, for realism, meaning some will stay in the uni housing 1-2 years after they graduated. That would probably not be possible in a dorm.

And - in a residential housing I won't need to worry as much if they all are on different terms :)
