How many sims can you handle at once in a household?

Also, if I play on normal lifespan, the oldest ones are often teens/children when the youngest are still toddlers, so they're much better at doing stuff themselves. It's not like I have six toddlers at once (omg can you imagine LOL). I haven't had that many multiples in Sims 4, they're mostly singletons.
