Well I personally have used mods/cc for every single game and I wouldn't play without them. I guess that could mean I need them but I like to think of them as enhancements and modifications to further my enjoyment of the game.
I do however think Sims 4 takes the cake for "stop doing that annoying thing" mods or "fix this bug" mods.
Bolded for emphasis because, truuue. "No more hissing vampires in CAS" mod, "no 'that's inappropriate'" mod, "reduced townie generating" mod, "disabled event outfits" mod "removed 'nicely decorated' moodlet" mod. There is no end to the list of Sims 4 things that are annoying enough to inspire new mods to fix them.
