How often do your sims go on dates
My sims rarely go on dates because I'd rather just have them hang out someplace and build romance that way. I don't really like the goals.

I don't plan them, but I always accept when the unplayed love interest invite my sim on date, easier to do.
There are hidden objectives but really only 3 tiers, I don't remember 100% but talk a bit, flirt a bit, kiss in that order should be enough.
The NPC tells you anyway when you're doing it right.
