Have much the same simming profile as you, though have always had a PC that could play it. (Keeping graphics cards ahead of TS2 is another story...) Sims 1 was a huge wow, TS2 an off the charts wow. Am still finding things in it not seen before - and I've been playing it since day 1. TS3, while it has some fine features and I periodically try it again, just does not hold my attention. Like you I find the sims ugly (and all look the same). Open world is a nice idea but hardly an easy way to play, the graphice (at least on new machines) are muddy, and I don't like screenshots being dumped into a common pot. TS4 has a lot of nice features, but like you I find it shallow and in many ways a step or two backwards. The less said about how they do packs this time around the better.
Still, like the series over all, whether to tell stories, build, or unwind after a long & stressful work day.
