I don't understand the hate TS4 receives sometimes. Don't get me wrong, I don't love it but I do enjoy it. The game is soooo smooth. No more bugs and numerous time out of my gameplay trying to edit game files to make the game playable (error code 12 nightmare). TS4 is so immersive. We can dine out, cook numerous meals, make numerous drinks, do our makeup, go shopping... It's just so much better than those rabbit holes. TS3 sims were just so dead. It's so flat in comparison to TS4. If TS4 had open world and the ability for us to create our own worlds, I would play it forever. And this is coming from a long time Sims fan. This iteration is really expensive though.
