Sims 4 is my favourite! I really enjoy the fact that we are freer to create our own stories in it rather than the Sims creating the stories. THe art style is a lot nicer than all previous versions, and overall, it's just more enjoyable and fun for me. I LOVE the gallery as well. The ability to go between worlds
For the records: I'm almost 40, played for 20 years since Sims 1 (and Sim City before it) and play for the game play as I"m not interested in the CAS or Build (though those are awesome too. ) My play style is to play large families and I love playing babies, tots and kids more than older sims but the families all spend a lot of time together. They all have diff hobbies, join clubs, do fun things together... I cheat needs/money as I play to tell stories not to grind money or needs and not for a "challlenge" but as a relaxing way of watching the stories (that I write first) come to life. I get really invested in my sims and play them for a long time, my current family going on 4 years now and the second generation is just starting to become young adults with with oldest kids and the oldest first gens just became elders. I am looking forward to playing it for many more years!
Thoughts on Sims 2: . It's a great game and I used to play but after playing Sims 4 and realisiing how much better 4 is for my personal play style I have trouble going back to sims 2 now. However every time I do return I am blown away by how fluidly the sims move. I may not like the game nearly as much as Sims 4, because the way the sims act on top of the horrid cut scenes, art style, and ui but Sims 2 easily have the best animations to me. It's a terrific game. I think my favourite animation is kids dancing on parents feet. I really miss that.
Sims 3 I have played but only very little and unlike 2 & 4 I don't have all the packs in it. I just can't get into it the same way. I think I only have World Adventures and Generations for it. I'm sure it's a good game that I would have liked if I Had played it PRIOR to other versions, but I didnt. I knew I loved Sims 2, and that I REALLY loved Sims 4 and I had heard it was a good game too and a lot of people liked it even more than 4, plus I really wanted to play world adventures, so when I saw it come up for sale for super cheap I decided "hey, why not? at that price?" SO I purchased the base game and packs about a year(ish? ) ago for the first time for like $5 each. I was super excited and kept trying to like it but unfortunately it just wasn't enjoyable with my playstyle so I ended up going back to 4. I'd rank it honestly about equal to Sims 2.. I don't think I have a preference from one over the other.
Sims 1 I'm not going to judge, it was SOOOO long ago since I've played, I stopped even before Sims 2 came out, and honestly there is very little I remember about the game other than hating burlars that kept stealing my stuff and wishing they werne't in the game haha. I DO know that I spent a lot of time in the game, but not as much as in Sims 4. But the gameplay itself I don't recall that clearly anymore so yeah, not ranking it.
