Give them some negative traits. I have mean, evil and erratic sims that are always starting something on their own. Arguing, insulting. One sims family the wife is erratic and she is always starting something with her husband and I find it hard to keep the relationship from plummeting.
Also if you have snowy escape, the lifestyle workaholic causes a lot of problems for the entire family, they don't like being neglected.
