How to do Rotational Families with Seasons?

I have a large group of families that I play for one week increments each before I age everyone up. But I don’t know how to work in seasons with this system. It would be cool to play all four seasons with each family before they get aged up, but I don’t think one week is enough.

Anyone else trying to figure this out?

Is it just me or can I only celebrate for example Christmas with 1 household? Because when Christmas is over and I select another household, it is the day after Christmas. If so, how can I change this? I want it to be like in Sims 2.

You are correct, it isn't possible to celebrate a holiday with every household.

For every household to experience every season, one simple trick is to make the number of households either one less or one more than a multiple of four, yes?

One more would be better if you want the seasons to "move forward". I tried to make a system like that in my game, but it didn't work for me because I like to rotate freely. Now I've numbered all the households spring = 1, summer = 2 etc. Depending on what season I last played them. I continue playing either the same season or the next. If a family story is progressing while I play another household, I will update the number for all households involved.

You can if you add additional days for the holiday on the calendar (equal to the number of households.)

You might want to increase the season length, especially if you have Sims that are into gardening. I have sort of a loose rotation (mostly sticking with one family but have a couple of others I play occasionally). Maybe going to 2 or even 4 week seasons would make more sense than one week. You can also set the aging to only affect your current household for your played Sims, so your other families won't age while you're playing one.

I use MCCC and one of the townies froze to death; her surviving widower married his male friend. I just figure all Sims are naturally bisexual and leave it at that. B) (Interesting thing though -- the widower moved in with his new husband and his teen daughter, a household of three, leaving his teen kids and two dogs, household of four. Tried to merge the two households and said that I'd have too many and that pregnant Sims count as two, so either the dogs were pregnant or someone got abducted by aliens. :o Ended up deleting the two dogs which hurt but I'm not actively playing them anyway; one of my Sims may end up marrying one of the teens down the road.
  • I’ve always been kinda capricious with swapping between families and Seasons hasn’t changed that. I ended up swapping to a much longer lifespan so I have to micromanage (macromanage?) less with longer seasons. I do send sims home more with MCCC if the weather stinks.

It is nice to have a ton of holidays though so I have a semi natural swapping point for households. Even if I want to play a certain family during a holiday, I can still schedule some get togethers in before swapping.
  • I am currently playing a new save, slowly changing out townies for Aliens. Once I figure out the new play style for a rotation. I am finding the seasons are a little short. I may have to go back to long life span and longer seasons. I have currently 7 households, but with the current generation about to become YA, that will jump up. The next gen is only have one child each lol
