How To Find Your Favorite Sim in Tray

you can't just swap tray folders and pick him out?
if not (i don't understand why not though) then maybe the tray importer would help.

I keep my sims on the gallery that I want to keep and I get all kinds of flack from others saying I am stealing them. Some of them are redone from the gallery sims that I want to keep. So if you do this you need to really give credit to the original creator even if the name is on there as you do not want them to give you a hard time. I continue to upload them just for this reason so I do not lose them as you lose your library when you have a problem and lose your saves.

You can't save it to your library, because then it'd be removed when you replace the tray again. You'd need to add them to the game, save it, and then swap the folders back. Then you can go and save the sim or the house to your library.

Okay, I thought my Library must have been linked to the Tray folder since there wasn't a Library folder. I'm too tired to think straight right now, but if I'm understanding correctly, my saved games are separate from the Tray Folder? So removing the Tray folder won't affect my saved games, correct? If that's the case, then that would be easy enough to do. I'll have to wait until morning though to try it. Thanks for your help!

Yes, items in the library are all in the Tray folder. Saves are stored in the saves folder. Your saves won't be affected by swapping the trays. :)

I think you can use tray importer for this. It's not a mod and one of my favourite tools out there for the game.

Also when you go to your library choose advanced and click the choice to allow custom or something like that. It's been a while since I started a fresh game where I used tray items.

It's funny, I was just wondering how to do this, too. I was playing a sim on my laptop and wanted to copy her and her house to my desktop PC so I copied all the files from the tray folder that were dated for the last day I played her and uploaded them to Dropbox, but when I downloaded them to my PC I only had the house and not the sim. I'm not sure what I did wrong.

I was going to google how to do it, but I got busy and forgot. Maybe someone who knows what they're doing will be nice and give us some instructions. :) <3

I could move the files out of tray folder on my PC temporarily and replace them with the try folder from my laptop, save my sim and house to my library, then delete that tray folder and replace it with the original one from my PC. That would probably be the least confusing way to do it. Thanks!

It was one of my original Sims, but I don’t upload them for this very reason. I don’t want to be accused of stealing sims that I created. I do use Sims off the gallery, but never upload them once I do.
