It actully more depends on the dog's personalty, their level of obdieance, how badly they need to go, and the weather. My one dog will go refuse to step off my back cement patio if the ground is wet, or there's tall snow. It's not a big deal as the paito is actully eaiser to clean poo off of then the grass and a hose takes care of the rest.
Like you say depends on the dog. My dogs hate it. I can think of one time they have used the porch. They prefer grass, they even choose grass over the paving slabs.
