How to install mods...?

I'd be interested to know which you like better. PC or console? As a former Sims 4 console player I can't even imagine playing on my ps4 anymore. The last time I opened up the sims on ps4 was to plug it in and turn it on in the same room as my PC so I could recreate a sim before they introduced the gallery on console.

1. Find a program to unzip the mod downloads you want. I use the free program WinRAR.
2. Find a mod you like and download it to your computer.
3. Transfer the file to WinRAR (or 7-Zip).
4. Extract the file to Electronic Arts>The Sims 4>Mods.
5. Read the mod site carefully. Some creators have specific instructions to get the mod to work.

I would say that PC is much more customizable with mods and CC. I think I like PC a little better because of it but since I’ve played on console for three years straight it’s not like I can’t play without mods/cc. CC can be quite hectic to keep up with as well so I won’t be using it as much. Now that we have gallery on console it’s much better. I also own all packs on console vs on PC I only have a few (working on getting all for PC). I can’t ditch over $500 worth of stuff and not play it anymore. So overall I like both equally but *maybe* PC just a little better. I also much prefer the controller over keyboard since it’s quicker to access actions and move camera better.


Edit: oh I forgot. Loading times are wayyyy better on PC than on console.

Oh,I totally get the controller thing over the keyboard. I was a main ps4 player until the sims came out. Thanks to wireless controllers I can play Skyrim and Dragon Age on pc, World of Warcraft not so much though lol.

I think I received my pc after Get Famous came out at Christmas and was super lucky to be able to get everything in a huge sale on Origin. Hopefully there will be a sale soon and you get a few things. But I agree it's a lot of money to fork especially if you've bought everything for console already.

What's your OS? I use Windows and it already has a way to open and extract files for mods. I won't go into details as others have this covered, I only posted this so you can avoid getting either 7-Zip or WinRAR, which is NOT free. You can use it for about 30 days, but then they demand payment. It's not exactly inexpensive, either.

@GalacticGal I use Windows 10. All I had to do was extract the files from by right clicking the zipped file. So I’ve got it all working. Glad I don’t have to use 7-Zip as the computer will already do it for me.

7-Zip is free actually for anyone who comes across this. I know because I've used it for years with no random pop-ups asking for payment. WinRAR has those annoying pop-ups unless they changed something in recent years.

Winrar is also free, they give you a 30-day trial and after that you can keep the program and use it, however you do get a pop-up everytime you open it asking you to purchase it but you don't have to, it's more like a reminder. Purchasing it only removes the pop-up and that's it.
