Yes, I've done this often. The only thing I would add is that while you don't have to delete the landscaping/other items that will be cut off before placing it on the smaller lot, I still like to clean up the lot first sometimes. Particularly if you are downloading a house from the gallery, if there's a lot of landscaping, then there's often a lot of extraneous terrain manipulation that goes with it, and plonking that straight down onto a smaller lot can make weird things happen around the edges that are hard to fix.
So if I'm downloading, I will typically move it onto a larger lot and smooth out some of the terrain, at least around where I expect the edges of the smaller property to be, and also look out for anything else that might be funky (like ending up with half a swimming pool), before saving it and then placing it on the smaller lot.
Hi, and thank you. Thats very insightful. I knew I couldn't place a big lot on a smaller one directly from the gallery, but now I see that you can do that from your library if you're willing to lose some stuff along the edges.
The one I was trying to do was my own build from my library, so there was no problem... but I hadn't thought about saving a big lot from the gallery to a big lot, and then from the library to a smaller lot.
Thank you so much!
You are welcome!
I actually keep a whole separate save for this, where I bulldozed almost everything and then used the empty lots to test out downsizing larger lots. Only I'm lazy and behind on cleaning it up, so now it's filled with all these wild-looking unsuccessful attempts at fixing various lots. One of these days I should make a "Dali-wood" save where I put actual families into some of the weirder lots and see whether they can lead somewhat functional lives in bizarre houses.
