- Try doing a random legacy?
- Affairs always help.
You can always have a baby from an affair end up moving in and being the heir teeing off the actual line of kids - cornflake897 years agoRising AceComplete a collection
- I'm not playing a legacy but I'm playing a sim right now with the goal of completing all collections and collecting for me has been a great way to mix up my gameplay. I've also been building skills I don't normally intentionally work on--singing, video gaming, herbalism, and rocket science.

So I never know who is going to be heir....at one point, I thought it would be the first born because none of the girls had rolled the exemplar trait and so I was preparing for first born to be heir, since the rules default to that, if nobody has the exemplar trait. But then I rolled it for the youngest daughter....& so the youngest is now heir. I love adopting children into the family....as I haven't adopted a child in TS4 since probably 2015. Not sure why, but I've always had my Sims have their own children.
This is also my first time playing with the Scoring. I always looked at the Scoring as very tedious to keep track of all this stuff. But it's honestly turned out to be very interesting....I found a Scoresheet in Google Docs that someone created and it's a really great tracker. I don't feel like the rules are too tedious for scoring and I can still tell the stories that I want to tell.
In my current generation, my heir is a chef...so she has high cooking, baking, mixology, and gourmet cooking. I had her and her spouse buy a restaurant and a bakery....I haven't played restaurants or retail in a long time, so that's added some spice to keep things interesting.
I usually always have my Sims cheat....and this time, I wanted to work on my Sims being married for a life time; sure some drama here and there as marriages aren't perfect, but I wanted something lasting. Even the Romance Guru at the Romance Festival had said my Sim and her spouse would last a lifetime....and usually that Romance Guru is negative....lol. So I had them renew vows. & my Founder and her husband both stayed married till the end.
& as others have mentioned, marrying Sims that have been born in-game keeps things authentic and passing down a pet or in my case, I will be passing down a restaurant/retail store....plus I love that you are supposed to memorialize the heir/primary spouse of each generation, & I'm loving that too. I find that each generation is different. & they added to the rules with Seasons....and I think that's bonus points, where you have holiday of Remembrance for the Founder on the day he/she died and a holiday on the day you started the challenge. I'm loving this too. It's kind of like a family reunion for my Sims....and with MCC, my spares have moved out and have children of their own, so their families are growing. Those holidays just further keep the family ties so close.
Lastly, I'm also working on collections. I've only ever completed the gardening collection and elements collection since I have played TS4. I have yet to finish any collections. So even this is adding a level of excitement.
